Dr. Vanek and his staff boarded the Goodtime III last night hosting

The WOMEN WHO WINE event.  We arrived in Cleveland with some

humid weather, bright sunshine and some “wacky” hats on our heads.

We were ready for our passengers to arrive.

We presented each passenger with a Vanek Cosmeceutical bag,

various brochures enclosed and an article created by Dr. Vanek

for the Lake County News Herald announcing the MC1 or

VASER Shape that has arrived here in our office. Dr. Vanek is the 1st in Ohio to use the MC1.

Dr. Vanek presented a “Birthday” gift to each passenger with a

birthday in the month of July.  We also had 3 great gift baskets

that we had participants fill out registration cards and put in a bag

for drawing.  One basket had a $700 value for a hair removal

package here at our office.

Dinner and deserts were served to a stunning sunset on the river.

DJ and MC for the night was Paula from the radio station Star97.

Dr. Vanek did a Q&A for the passengers whom had several great

questions to ask about cosmetic surgery (including Tummy tuck,

Latisse, Laser Skin Resurfacing, Breast Lift and Breast Reduction).

We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise with the WOMEN WHO WINE.

Thank you to all that attended this event and we hope to participate

again next year.staff-20010801113721520-20100722152947344

MC1 Now Named VASER Shape

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

VASER Shape now available at Dr. Paul Vanek Mentor Office

Who Knew?!

That wistful desire, “If only they could rub something on my skin and I’d have a skinnier waist,” has been expressed by many.  That FDA approved technology is being introduced to Ohio by my practice starting this week!  Called MC1 in the US, this in-office procedure involves 5 weeks of treatment utilizing a dual-head, focused beam of ultrasound.  The device manufactured in Italy by General Project, gently heats the treated area, releasing lipid and triglycerides from the fat cells treated on the abdomen, flanks, back, chest, arms, thighs and buttocks.  Patients feel a gentle warming sensation during their one hour treatment.  Within a few days they are re-treated with a lymphatic massage in the office.  Measurements and photographs are taken before and after for comparison.  Patients can resume normal activities immediately.  We expect that a person can have their clothes fit better and their skin look smoother with each treatment.  Over a series of 5 weeks patients show improvement of localized fat and cellulite in their treatment areas.  It’s really here!

P.S. I will be enrolling the first 20 patients in a clinical trial of patient experience with post-treatment stipends for participation in follow-up studies beginning next week. Call if interested to see if you are a candidate.

Article by Dr. Paul Vanek - A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

Scanning technology that has allowed scientists to map the surface of Mars can also facilitate analysis of your skin!  A new device to characterize your skin with multi-spectral analysis makes quantitative measurements allowing me to assess all aspects of your complexion.  Severity of wrinkles, 3 dimensional contour mapping, sun damage, rosacea, brown spots, pore size, porphyrins, and scarring are able to be quantified with a computer analysis from the photos of your skin taken at the time of your consultation. This baseline analysis can be used as a tool to assess your skin improvements over time with the treatments we recommend.  The images are also compared to a data base of over 4 million people within one year of your birthdate, matching age and ethnicity for comparison purposes. A printed report detailing the results of the imaging session can be taken home for review of skin care and treatment recommendations based upon your unique complexion profile.  What better way to assess and follow results than with an objective technology that shows you your progress with treatment?

PS  This technology will soon be available in my practice to provide you a vision of your healthier, younger looking, more beautiful skin!skin-wrinkles

FDA approval for Dupuytren’s Contracture

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

Crooked Finger Fix -Recently the FDA has approved a non surgical option for the treatment of Dupuytren’s contracture. The collagenase enzyme has been around for a long time experimentally.  The clinical use of this biochemical agent involves an injection performed in the office to digest the cord collagen.  Patients who have contracture at the MCP (the knuckle) or at the PIP (the first joint) from Dupuytren’s fibrosis are candidates for the injection therapy.  The fibrosis in the palm is not as responsive to injection therapy and may require excisional surgery using tourniquet anesthesia.  Patients who have the finger contracture can be injected monthly up to three times.  The patient is seen the next day for a mobilization maneuver to hopefully break the cord.  Tendon rupture is a small risk of the injection, because it contains high collagen content and is in close proximity to the fibrotic cord in the finger.  I am credentialed in the safe use of Xiaflex™ collagenase injection.  The procedure is not cosmetic.

PS.   This injection therapy is ideal for elderly patients who might be on anti-platelet or Coumadin agents who don’t want to have surgical intervention.dupuytren-photo
