Facelift in Mentor, Ohio

Facelift

Mentor, Ohio – Facelift (rhytidectomy) a modern facelift can minimize jowls, a double chin, and the marionette lines around the mouth that develop as we age.  The procedure involves making an incision behind the hairline, beginning from the temple and extending down in a natural line to the front and bottom of the ear, around the earlobe, and into the hair behind the ear.  The skin is separated from the underlying muscle fascia and pulled back.  The underlying muscle and SMAS layer is tightened.  The neck is undermined in a similar way and redraped behind the ear, repositioning the hairline properly.  Excess tissue is removed in front and behind the ear.  Finally the incisions are closed with tissue glue and sutures. The Quick Lift extensively advertised is a skin tightening operation designed in the 1970’s that has been repackaged as something new- performed under local anesthesia.  Because the goal is “quick” the fascia is not tightened, so results are the same as a “mini lift” no matter what it’s called.

PS  In terms of both results and longevity, today’s more comprehensive approach to SMAS facelift procedures outperform those from last century.

Breast Reduction Comment

Monday, March 15th, 2010

Breast Reduction Comment:

I have been thinking about a breast reduction for years.  Once I decided to find out more information, it still took me over a year to make an appointment!  After consultations with Dr. Vanek and Dr. Vanek’s staff, I made the decision to have the reduction.  However, even the day before my surgery, I was still wondering if I was doing the right thing.  It’s fine to look at pictures and talk with Dr. Vanek but it was hard for me to really grasp what the recovery and results would be like without experiencing it.  I was very worried about the surgery itself but also the scars, the pain, and the final results.  Two weeks after my surgery, I could not be happier.  My anxiety and fear were much worse than the reality.  I did not have any pain after the surgery and my scars are far more acceptable than I had imagined.  I can honestly say I have not had a single minute where I have regretted my decision.  I only regret not meeting Dr. Vanek sooner.

Dr. Vanek response to Col. Wilson

Monday, March 15th, 2010

I spoke with Col Wilson tonight and he was gracious and complimentary about Team Cleveland. He and his Syrian driver were impressed with our selfless dedication to the plight of the Haitians in the face of personal danger and unknowns (his words). I wanted to acknowledge his kindness in getting us safely to HCH.  He called us ‘the Cavalry’ and said he served in a support role. I thanked him on behalf of our team and told him of how we bless his name and his efforts when we talk of our efforts in Haiti.

Letter from Lieutenant Colonel Edward C. Wilson

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

Dr. Vanek recently received a letter from Lieutenant Colonel Edward C. Wilson.  He assisted Dr. Vanek and his team while in Haiti. Below is that letter.

Dr. Vanek,
This is just a quick note to follow up on your visit to Haiti and the efforts of your team. I can’t tell you how amazed I was with the courage, dedication, selflessness and professionalism you and your staff exhibited in your work to provide critical medical care after the earthquake.

It was truly a pleasure to assist you and your team where we could. I don’t know if you remember us, but we gave you and your team and the 700-800 lbs of equipment you had rides to the Community Hospital (Porte au Prince) and coordinated for what security we could provide for you and your team. The efforts of your team are an experience that I continue to hold up as nothing short of “heroic” and I hope I get a chance to follow up with you back in Miami someday.

I am currently on leave in Miami from 6-17 March, and will be back at SOUTHCOM, off the Haiti rotation, in May. I hope I have the opportunity to thank you and your team in person.

Thanks again, your efforts were truly remarkable.
