Peels & Microdermabrasion

Microderm

DiamondTome™ Microdermabrasion is a non-chemical exfoliating process, used to remove dead surface skin cells and initiate cellular turnover at the dermis and epidermis levels. Microdermabrasion is effective in the treatment of aging and sun damaged skin, acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, scars and age spots, and overall skin rejuvenation. The treatment improves skin elasticity, texture, color, and overall appearance. Combining this procedure with other services such as dermal fillers or Botox® can achieve enhanced results.

This form of skin resurfacing is non-invasive, pain-free, and requires no downtime. Your face will be slightly red following your treatment. A good moisturizer and full spectrum sunscreen should be applied immediately after your treatment.

Peels

Glycolic peels are an affordable way to leave your skin looking smoother, healthier, and more youthful. Glycolic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid that acts as an exfoliant. Its unique property is that it also stimulates collagen synthesis in the skin. Glycolic acid also opens clogged pores and improves acne and hyperpigmentation.

Peels are performed in the relaxing atmosphere of our skin care room. The skin is cleansed and then buffered glycolic acid is applied, usually starting at 20% concentration. Depending upon the skin’s response, the next peel is a higher concentration until a 70% peel is achieved. Most patients have a series of six peels 7-10 days apart and then do a maintenance lunch peel once a month.

Following treatment, you can expect to experience a few hours of redness, which can be easily covered with make-up. You may also experience some dryness for two to three days after the peel. You may resume your skin care regimen immediately after the peel. It is suggested that you avoid sun exposure for the rest of the day, but most people can go out to a social engagement within a few hours of the micro-peel.

TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid) chemical peels are significantly stronger than glycolic peels, and thus have a more potent effect on your face, neck, mantle, and hands. This peel is a great treatment that can make your skin look years younger by exfoliating superficial wrinkles, remodeling the treated skin, dramatically improving pore size, correcting pigmentation issues, and reducing blackheads.

TCA chemical peels are performed in the office with a topical local anesthetic. The treatment will initially leave you with skin that appears to be sunburned for about five to ten days. The treatment does not actually burn your skin, but aggressively exfoliates and resurfaces the treated areas.

To optimize the pre- and post-recovery phase, you should prepare for your treatment with a good pre-treatment skin care regimen. You may camouflage the resulting redness with make-up, beginning around three to five days following treatment. It is important that you wear a broad-spectrum sunblock for at least six weeks after treatment. Enjoy the summer weather with fresh, smooth skin!
