BODY PROCEDURES
Tummy Tuck, Lower Body Lift, Thigh Lift, Gynecomastia
The shape of your body can be controlled by careful diet and exercise to an extent. In some cases, a cosmetic body contouring procedure such as a tummy tuck, liposuction, or body lift may be necessary to achieve your desired look. During your initial visit to our Mentor, Ohio office, Dr. Vanek will work closely with you to understand your personal goals and then take sound medical steps to achieve the physical image enhancements you desire. You should be open with Dr. Vanek and his staff about your desired outcome. Our goal is to ensure your results meet your expectations.

- If diet and exercise have failed to restore your body to its pre-pregnancy or pre-weight gain shape, a tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, may help. By removing excess skin and tightening stomach muscles, Dr. Vanek can create a smoother abdominal profile.
- Often, after significant weight loss, excess, saggy skin around the thighs, buttocks, and abdomen are present. In this case, a lower body lift may be necessary. This procedure is not designed to help you lose weight, but to re-contour your lower body.
- A thigh lift, or thighplasty, is another popular procedure for patients who have excess soft tissue. A thigh lift can help to reduce excess skin and return your legs to a smoother, more youthful contour along the inner and outer thighs.
- Men with gynecomastia, or enlarged breasts, can improve their appearance and self-confidence with correction surgery. By performing this procedure, Dr. Vanek may be able to correct the fullness of your breasts resulting from glandular development, excessive fat, or both.
Panniculectomy
A panniculectomy is indicated for patients who are too heavy to undergo a tummy tuck safely. This procedure, performed under general anesthesia, is a direct excision or removal of the hanging skin and fat with a closure of the skin from hip to hip. To better illustrate what takes place during the procedure, imagine taking a slice out of a lemon and then squeezing the cut edges together.
During a panniculectomy, the belly button is repositioned to look like a normal abdominal wall. Just like a tummy tuck, a panniculectomy requires postoperative drains under the skin and an abdominal binder for about six weeks.
